Castel del Monte Bombino Nero
About the wine
Castel del Monte Bombino Nero DOCG represents a unique expression of the native Bombino Nero grape, cultivated in the rugged, limestone-rich landscape of the Murgia plateau in Puglia. Recognized as a DOCG in 2011, this denomination focuses exclusively on the production of rosato wines. The wine is defined by its delicate, fruity profile and a dry, harmonious palate, reflecting the sub-Mediterranean climate and the specific karst topography of the area surrounding the iconic Castel del Monte. With a minimum of 90% Bombino Nero, the wine benefits from the region's traditional viticultural practices, including low-yield management and careful canopy control, which preserve the grape's natural acidity and aromatic integrity. It is a distinctive, terroir-driven rosato that stands apart from the more common, heavier red wines of Southern Italy, offering a refined balance and a clear link to its historic, stony environment.
