Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva
About the wine
Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva represents the pinnacle of viticulture in the Murgia region of Puglia. This DOCG wine is defined by its reliance on the Nero di Troia grape, which must constitute at least 65% of the blend, providing the structural backbone and characteristic aromatic profile. The wine is crafted to reflect the rugged, limestone-rich terroir of the Alta Murgia, where the combination of high-altitude vineyards and a sub-Mediterranean climate produces grapes with significant concentration. The 'Riserva' designation mandates a minimum of two years of aging, with at least one year spent in wood, resulting in a wine that is full-bodied, harmonious, and capable of evolving from a vibrant ruby to a deep garnet hue over time. It is a sophisticated expression of Puglian winemaking, balancing traditional techniques with modern precision to showcase the potential of the Nero di Troia variety in its native landscape.
