About the wine

Colline Teramane Montepulciano d’Abruzzo represents the pinnacle of the Montepulciano grape in the Abruzzo region. Elevated to DOCG status in 2003, this denomination is defined by its specific geographic footprint in the province of Teramo, where the proximity of the Gran Sasso massif and the Monti della Laga creates a unique microclimate. The significant diurnal temperature shifts in these hilly vineyards promote optimal ripening, resulting in wines of notable structure, intensity, and longevity. The wine is characterized by a deep ruby color that evolves toward garnet, offering complex aromas of ripe red fruits, jams, and spices. On the palate, it is dry, harmonious, and velvety, with well-integrated tannins. Unlike broader regional designations, this DOCG enforces stricter yield limits and aging requirements, ensuring a refined expression of the terroir. It is a sophisticated, age-worthy red that balances the inherent power of the Montepulciano grape with the elegance afforded by the Teramo hills.
