Tullum
About the wine
Tullum, also known as Terre Tollesi, is a compact and highly localized DOCG situated entirely within the commune of Tollo in the Abruzzo region. Recognized as a DOCG in 2019, this denomination focuses on the high-quality expression of the Montepulciano grape for its red wines, and the native Pecorino and Passerina varieties for its whites. The reds are characterized by their deep ruby color, intense red fruit aromas, and structured, tannic profiles, with the Riserva category requiring a minimum of two years of aging, including six months in wood. The white wines are noted for their freshness, persistent acidity, and aromatic complexity, ranging from floral and herbal notes in Pecorino to citrus and almond nuances in Passerina. The unique microclimate, influenced by the proximity to the Adriatic Sea and the protective presence of the Maiella massif, provides ideal conditions for balanced maturation, resulting in wines of distinct character and longevity.
