Fiano di Avellino is one of Italy's most prestigious white wine denominations, centered on the ancient Fiano grape. Historically linked to the 'Apianum' mentioned by Roman writers, this wine is celebrated for its remarkable ability to age, developing complex notes of honey, hazelnut, and dried fruit over time, while maintaining a signature vibrant acidity. The wines are produced in the hilly landscapes of the Avellino province, where volcanic soils and significant diurnal temperature shifts create an ideal environment for the Fiano grape to reach full aromatic maturity. The denomination includes both still and traditional method sparkling versions. The still wine is typically dry, harmonious, and elegant, characterized by a straw-yellow color and a fine, intense bouquet. The production regulations emphasize quality through strict yield limits and a focus on hillside vineyards, ensuring that the resulting wines reflect the unique terroir of the Sabato river valley and the surrounding Irpinian hills.

The production area is located in the province of Avellino, Campania, covering the administrative territories of 26 communes, including Avellino, Lapio, Atripalda, and Montefredane. The zone is characterized by hilly terrain situated between the Partenio and Terminio-Tuoro mountain groups, with vineyards primarily located on slopes with favorable exposure, avoiding humid valley floors.
