Moscato di Scanzo
About the wine
Moscato di Scanzo is a rare and distinctive Italian DOCG, representing one of the smallest denominations in the country. Produced exclusively in the commune of Scanzorosciate in the province of Bergamo, Lombardy, this wine is crafted from 100% Moscato di Scanzo grapes. It is a unique red passito wine, characterized by a meticulous production process that includes an obligatory drying period of at least 21 days to reach a high sugar concentration. The wine is aged for a minimum of two years, strictly avoiding wood containers to preserve its delicate, aromatic profile. Upon release, it presents a ruby-red color, often with garnet reflections, and a sophisticated bouquet. On the palate, it is harmonious and sweet, defined by a signature almond finish. Its production is deeply tied to the steep, marly slopes of the region, known locally as 'Sass de la Luna,' which impart a singular character that is impossible to replicate elsewhere.
