About the wine

Castel del Monte Nero di Troia Riserva is a prestigious expression of Puglia’s native Uva di Troia grape, elevated to DOCG status in 2011. Produced in the rugged, limestone-rich Murgia plateau surrounding the iconic Castel del Monte, this wine is defined by its structural complexity and aging potential. The disciplinare mandates a minimum of 90% Nero di Troia, allowing for a small percentage of other non-aromatic black grapes to complete the blend. The 'Riserva' designation requires a minimum of two years of aging, with at least one year spent in wood, which softens the grape's naturally firm tannins and enhances its characteristic profile. In the glass, it displays a deep ruby color that evolves toward garnet with time, offering a delicate, characteristic bouquet and a full-bodied, harmonious palate. It is a wine that captures the essence of the sub-Mediterranean climate and the ancient viticultural traditions of the central Murgia region.
