Dogliani
About the wine
Dogliani DOCG represents the pinnacle of Dolcetto production in the Piedmont region. Unlike other expressions of the variety, Dogliani is characterized by its structural integrity, depth, and distinctively dry, harmonious profile with a signature almond-like finish. The denomination is divided into two categories: the standard Dogliani and the more rigorous Dogliani Superiore, which requires a minimum of 12 months of aging. The terroir, situated on the western edge of the Langhe, provides a cooler, higher-altitude environment that preserves the grape's delicate aromatics while allowing for a more robust, age-worthy expression. The wines are known for their vibrant ruby color and characteristic fruity nose, reflecting a traditional, non-interventionist approach to viticulture and winemaking that emphasizes the unique geological diversity of the area.

Production & aging
The production zone is located in the southern Piedmont region, specifically on the western edge of the Langhe hills in the province of Cuneo. It encompasses the entirety of 15 communes, including Dogliani, Farigliano, and Clavesana, with partial territory coverage in 7 additional communes such as Mondovì and Roddino. The area is defined by its hilly terrain, ranging from 250 to 800 meters in altitude, bridging the gap between the Barolo zone and the higher, cooler Alta Langa.
