Alta Langa
About the wine
Alta Langa is a prestigious Piedmontese DOCG dedicated exclusively to high-quality sparkling wines produced via the traditional method (metodo classico). Established in 2011, the denomination represents the culmination of a long-standing regional tradition of sparkling wine production, utilizing the cool, high-altitude hills of the Langhe. The wines are crafted primarily from Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, which thrive in the region's marly, calcareous soils. These grapes are harvested manually and undergo a rigorous aging process, requiring a minimum of 30 months on the lees for the standard bottling and 36 months for the Riserva. The resulting wines are characterized by their fine, persistent perlage, complex aromas of yeast, bread crust, and subtle musk, and a structured, sapid palate. Alta Langa stands as a testament to the region's ability to produce world-class, elegant sparkling wines that balance the intensity of the terroir with the finesse required for long-aged, bottle-fermented cuvées.
