Asolo Prosecco
About the wine
Asolo Prosecco DOCG represents a distinct, high-quality expression of the Glera grape, cultivated in the hilly landscapes of the Montello and Colli Asolani in the province of Treviso. Recognized as a DOCG in 2009, this denomination is characterized by its unique terroir, featuring ancient, well-drained soils of marly-clay and conglomerate, and a climate moderated by the proximity of the Dolomites. The wines are primarily produced as Spumante, though Frizzante and still versions exist. The Spumante style is known for its elegance, fine perlage, and a flavor profile ranging from Extra Brut to Demi-sec, often showcasing a more structured, mineral-driven character compared to other Prosecco denominations. A notable traditional variant is the 'sui lieviti' (on the lees) style, which offers a cloudy appearance, complex bread-crust aromas, and a dry, harmonious palate. The production is deeply rooted in the historical influence of Benedictine monks and the Venetian Republic, which established the area as a prestigious viticultural zone centuries ago.
