Soave Superiore
About the wine
Soave Superiore DOCG represents the pinnacle of the Soave viticultural area in the province of Verona. Unlike the standard Soave DOC, this designation focuses on lower yields and higher quality standards, emphasizing the unique volcanic terroir of the eastern Veronese hills. The wine is primarily based on the Garganega grape, which thrives in the region's dark, basalt-rich soils, providing a distinct mineral backbone and structural complexity. These wines are characterized by a straw-yellow color, often with golden reflections, and a sophisticated bouquet of floral and sometimes vanilla notes if aged in wood. On the palate, they are full-bodied, elegant, and defined by a signature delicate bitterness on the finish. The 'Classico' sub-zone, located in the historic heart of the production area, is particularly prized for its traditional hillside vineyards. The regulation mandates a minimum aging period, ensuring the wine is released with sufficient maturity to express its characteristic depth and longevity.
