Bagnoli Friularo
About the wine
Bagnoli Friularo is a distinctive red wine from the province of Padua, Veneto, centered on the historic Raboso Piave grape. Recognized as a DOCG in 2011, it is deeply rooted in the traditions of the Benedictine monks who cultivated these lands for centuries. The wine is defined by its high natural acidity and robust tannic structure, which are tempered by the unique alluvial soils and the cooling influence of the Euganean Hills. The production is characterized by a long growing season and a tradition of late harvesting, often extending past the 'Estate of San Martino' in November. The resulting wines are intense and age-worthy, ranging from dry, velvety reds—often aged in wood—to complex, sweet passito versions made from naturally dried grapes. It is a wine of significant personality, offering notes of dark cherry, plum, and tertiary spice, reflecting the mineral-rich terroir of the Bagnoli area.
