Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba
About the wine
Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba is a distinctive Piedmontese DOCG that highlights the Dolcetto grape in its purest form. Produced exclusively within the commune of Diano d'Alba, the wine is celebrated for its deep ruby color and characteristic almond-noted, dry, and harmonious profile. A unique feature of this denomination is the identification of 76 'Sörì'—sun-drenched hillside sites—which represent the most vocated vineyard areas. The wine is produced in two main versions: the standard Diano d'Alba and the more structured 'Superiore,' which requires a longer aging period. The regulation emphasizes the importance of site-specific viticulture, allowing for the mention of 'vigna' (vineyard) on the label when linked to a specific Sörì. This is a quintessential expression of the Langhe, where the Dolcetto grape finds its ideal habitat on high, sunny slopes, resulting in a wine that is both approachable and deeply tied to its specific terroir.
